things we lost in the fire

There will come a time when my children will ask me if growing up alone without any siblings had a toll on me.

I will be faced with a choice.
Answering with the truth will result in telling them the lonely nights and the tears on the pillows and the dependency on my friends. With the tidal waves of sadness hidden by one smile and those silent days full of flowers and memories.

But answering with a lie would allow them to think that I had one perfect, happy childhood.

With only one week left of being 16, see where my thoughts are getting me?
